CheQ Systems, Inc., the Philippines’s first independent full time Software Quality Engineering and testing services provider, recently announced its new set of training courses that will cover more advanced and more specific topics on software testing.
CheQ offers intensive and extensive training courses that extend from basic know-how all the way to strategic approaches, which could be conducted for either public or corporate audience. New courses released for Q1 and Q2 include:
• Test Design: The Next Level - A two-day course that will help participants establish the different test design approaches, built around hands-on exercises designed to enhance and reinforce the learning experience.
• Is It Testable? - A two-day course that will teach participants the best practices in building testable requirements presenting a complete process for eliciting the real requirements, testing them for correctness, and recording them clearly, comprehensibly and unambiguously.
• To Automate or Not? - A two-day course that will introduce participants to the Automated Test Life-Cycle Methodology where lecture presentations will be conducted to illustrate a comprehensive, step-by-step guide to the most effective tools, techniques, and methods for automated testing.
• Managing the Testing Process - A two-day training course where participants will learn about the development and the use of a test plan and a test system, make effective use of bug and test tracking tools/databases.
These are just about a third of the new courses CheQ is set out to release in the next twelve months. More is still to come as CheQ continues to offer its regular non-tool-centric and tool-centric courses to continue its mission of optimizing people through its extensive training courses.

CheQ’s Chief Executive Officer and President Roel Hernandez and Research and Development (R&D) Manager Rommie Patricio participated in this year’s HP APJ (Asia Pacific Japan) Software Bootcamp held last May 30 to June 6 at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia and Movenpick Hotel in Phuket, Thailand. The venue served as the best place to create and share the knowledge and understanding of what and how HP Software is doing now, including familiarity with its new range of products and ways to strengthen its capabilities to sell in-depth and cross-platform solutions.
Aside from hands-on solution training sessions designed to develop primary and secondary skill sets, the event also dedicated common sessions for HP internal, partners, and alliances focusing on the new portfolio, and opportunities to learn how different products can be best brought together to optimize business outcomes.
The bootcamp also covered two agenda – Sales and Technical Sales (formerly known as Pre-sales). This year's Technical Sales on PC/QC class, which was attended by Rommie Patricio, focused on best practices across the HP range of centers/products and solutions in performance and quality management. The class was intended to provide practical skills to prepare the technical sales community to win deals and drive customer orders through use of compelling business positioning and value propositions, end-to-end engagement management, case study walkthroughs, ROI business case development, and hands-on skills development.
Meanwhile, CEO and President Roel Hernandez attended the two-day Partner Summit where participants got a chance to engage in networking and improve their HP partnership through accessing resources and key market opportunities and initiatives.
Also present during the event were HP Philippines representatives Noel Pasia, HP Software Sales Manager, and Modesto Quismorio III, HP Pre-Sales Consultant (Software).

CheQ’s Business Development team headed by Wilma Sapalaran and the two Associates, AJ Lopez and RJ Blas, participated for the third time in the 8th e-Services Philippines (ESP): Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition held last February 11-12, 2008 at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Marked as the group’s first marketing activity for the year 2008, they showcased and promoted the company’s testing, consulting, and training services in the exhibition area along with other 100 and more companies consisting of international and major local outsourcing players from different Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sectors and related industries.
This year’s international conference and exhibit with theme “Outsourcing Centers of Excellence,” was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P), and outsourcing advisory firm, Tholons, Inc. It was attended by 2,000 local and international key players in IT and IT-enabled services (ITES), Contact Centers, Software Development, Design and Engineering, Animation and Graphic Design, Game Development, and Financial and HR-related BPO.
ESP created an opportunity for CheQ to expand its market reach, to multiply its revenue, and to increase its competitive edge through meeting, networking, and establishing partnerships with emerging players locally and from countries like Great Britain, Sri Lanka, Japan, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the United States.
CheQ invades the game space with a bang as the company bags brand-new projects with two new US clients. One is a prominent Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) developer located in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, and expects to release a title in the next few years. Another client, located in San Francisco, California, produces a popular brand of console games for kids of specific ages that focus on school curriculum.
What started as pilot projects headed by CheQ’s Chief Quality Officer on the second half of year 2006, have potentially become 5-year deals and will officially be kicking off Q4, just before the year ends. CheQ received a positive impact immediately after evaluating the quality of the pilot test results and survey of the test lab facilities. Having the Q (quality) bigger than its competitors, and with the unfailing passion of its management team, CheQ won the projects.
