CheQ Attends the Austin Game Developers Conference
September 25, 2007

CheQ’s Chief Quality Officer, Eden Hernandez, and Business Development Manager, Wilma Claire Sapalaran, attended this year’s Austin Game Developers Conference (GDC), held at the Austin Convention Center on September 5-7, 2007 in Austin, Texas, to gain knowledge and insight to the future of the growing games industry. Participation in the conference was part of CheQ’s annual business expedition to promote the company’s quality services outside the Philippines this year.

The Conference attracted over 1,100 attendees and provided educational, networking, and business opportunities for game development professionals driving the $11 billion videogame industry. It is a forum where programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals and others involved in the development of interactive games gather to exchange ideas, network, and shape the future of the industry. The community is anchored regionally but reaches a national and international audience, all expected to:

Learn about the biggest issues facing MMOs, virtual worlds, and casual gaming, and how to help articulate future trends while breaking down misconceptions.
Share best practices and techniques for recording and enhancing sound for games.
Be inspired by writers who have crafted characters and written stories for epic games, and hear from authors in cross-disciplinary fields.
Meet and network with industry professionals from all over, many of whom work, study, and play in Texas

This community-oriented conference featured lectures, panels, tutorials and round-table discussions on topics taught by leading industry experts. Among the featured speakers are Hiromichi Tanaka, producer of the Final Fantasy XI; Mike Morhaime, creator of World of Warcraft; Sulka Haro, creator of Habbo Hotel; Lee Sheldon, writer and producer for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Charlie’s Angels; Brian Schmidt, architect for XACT and Xbox Audio; and David Perry, developer for Disney’s Aladdin.

In addition, the most innovative companies in the world exhibited and demonstrated in the GDC Expo the game development tools, platforms, and services developers can use to create the games of tomorrow.
