CheQ Systems, Inc. sponsored the recently concluded Manila Game Jam 2010. IGDA Manila Chapter and UP ITTC in cooperation with Anino Games created the Manila leg of the Global Game Jam last January 29-31, 2010 at the UP ITTC in UP Diliman campus. The Global Game Jam (GGJ) was founded in 2008 as an IGDA event to broaden the outreach of the organization while giving the world an opportunity to create games in the world’s largest Game Jam to date. It is a worldwide experiment in computer game creation held in over 100 locations around the world. It hosted game developers as they explore ideas in game design over a span of 48 hours and then present them to the rest of the world.

This year, the Global Jam had 134 locations in 38 different countries making games simultaneously. Here in Manila, a total of 32 participants consisted of students, professionals, amateurs, independent game developers, and even hobbyist developers over the course of a weekend gathered and picked each other’s brains and became instant insomniacs when they created 10 games in 48 hours. Participants had access to workstations, internet connection, and various programming and graphics software in order to create games.

Upon conclusion of the event, games were presented by each teams and a judging and awarding ceremony followed. Team Tupi, composed of Jayson Gavarra, Marnel Estrada, Aldrich Siojo, Shin Cañete, Gabrielle Mendez, won the Jury’s Choice Award and the Participant’s Choice Award! Taking inspiration from pieces of folded paper, they managed to design, programme and present a playable game entitled “Crease”, a deceptive platformer game.

CheQ Systems strongly believes in the talent and creativeness of Filipinos. Sponsoring this event is just one of our ways of showing support for the game industry in the Philippines and other parts of the world. CheQ as a game testing services provider is one with the Philippine game industry in its goal to be world-class and to get as many projects as we can internationally.

On December 9-11, 2009, CheQ Systems conducted an out-of-town training on ‘Regression Testing Using QuickTest Professional’ in Cebu City. It was facilitated by CheQ’s R&D Manager Rommie Patricio for participants located at NCR Cebu Development Center in Apas, Cebu City.
The 3-day course provided a comprehensive understanding using QuickTest Professional as an automated functional testing tool for different environments. Participants learned how to create basic scripts from a manual test case, enhance basic tests with synchronization and verification, and parameterize tests to run with multiple sets of data from the training. All the topics were supported by hands-on exercises based on real-life examples.
